Sailing Logic is offering a late booking discount for their Race Development course that starts on Monday 9th April and finishes on Friday 13 April. The cost of the five day course has been hugely reduced to £195.00 for Yachts and Yachting readers. The normal cost of the course is £495.00.

The course would be perfect for students who may be on their Easter holidays. It is also an ideal course for anyone who has done a lot of dinghy racing but would like to learn to race big boats.

The Race Development course is carefully structured to encourage a progressive development of everyone’s racing knowledge and skills. It will concentrate on starting techniques, upwind performance, mark roundings, kite hoists, kite drops, gybing, downwind performance and the basic rules.

Sailing Logic is using some of the best racing sailors in the Solent for the Race Development course which includes coaching from a former BMW Oracle Americas Cup sailor.

Time will specifically be spent on the different types of kite hoists and drops whilst explaining when and why they would be used. By the end of the five days everyone will be familiar with all the positions aboard a race boat and the interaction required between the members of the team. There is a big emphasis on teamwork and the role of each crew member. The course is predominantly practical but there will be an element of class work looking at the principles and theory of racing.
